Crete, Greece

06 – 13 October 2013

The third Joint Helmholtz-Rosatom School devoted to FAIR accelerators and scientific programs will be held in Crete, Greece from October 6 to 13, 2013. The school is organized by FRRC and HGS-HIRe. FRRC is sponsored by grants from German Helmholtz Association and from Russian State Corporation of Nuclear Energy "Rosatom".

This year, the school is focusing on graduate students only, coming from Russia via FRRC, or from HGS-HiRE and BMBF supported institutes. Invitations to Polish and Indian graduate students have been extended. Largest part of finances will come from BMBF via the NUSTAR grant to University of Darmstadt. We are planning each morning covering one research theme of FAIR, i.e. Accelerators, APPA, CBM, NUSTAR, PANDA, over 5 days. The sixth day will be devoted to IT topics and related aspects. Leading Russian and foreign scientists will present lectures. As introduced in the previous schools the most successful 'group work program' is also foreseen this time in the late afternoon. The 2-3  lecturers from the morning  will prepare a list of problems or topics which the participants solve and answer in the afternoon, in the presence of the lecturers concerned.

FRRC request FRRC fellow PhD students and undergraduate students to take part in the School. All costs will be covered by FRRC.
