The joint IHEP-MEPhI-RFRC seminar "Experiments with antiproton beams" was held on October 1 in the MEPhI Conference Hall. The main objective of the workshop was to acquaint professors, PhD and under graduate students with the FAIR project, especially with the studies of the properties of matter with antiproton beams.
About one hundred faculty, staff and students of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute attended the Seminar (see Fig. 1).
Rector of the Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute professor Mikhail Strikhanov opened the seminar. Four talks were presented by leading scientists. The talk of the IHEP leading scientist, MEPhI professor Vasily Mochalov was devoted to the most interesting physical processes to be studied with antiprotons at PANDA experiment and long-term objectives by using beams of polarized protons (PAX project FAIR).
IHEP senior researcher, associate professor at MEPhI Pavel Semenov in his report emphasized the new technology of data acquisition systems with PANDA experimental setup, in particular-the possibility of trigger-less mode and flow control.
Senior Engineer of the MEPhI Vladimir Rykov familiarized the participants with the experience of a group to work on the MEPI collider experiments.
The Head of the IHEP Laboratory professor Alexander Vasiliev told about participation of Russian institutions in the FAIR project and the prospects of the possible MEPhI MEPI in the experiment. One of the main aspects of the report was to describe the prospects for undergraduate and graduate students in collaboration with MEPhI FAIR, FRRC and IHEP.
The possibility of preparing a master's and bachelor's degree works was discussed.
