2 day course on scientific presentations for FRRC’s young scientists took place at FRRC 09-10 April 2015. Lectures were presented by Scientific Coordinator from Helmholtz Graduate School for Hadron and Ion Research (for FAIR) Sascha Vogel. The topics discussed on the seminar included:
-slides design;
-posters design;
-appropriate visualization of information;
-proper presenting skills;
-answering tough questions;
-body language and contact with audience;
Lectures were given in the form of presentations. Participants presented their scientific work, this was followed by active discussion – mistakes made, time limits, body language, etc. At the second day participants were to their work once more – with mistakes corrected. Sascha Vogel also gave lectures on appropriate presenting, avoiding typical mistakes in preparation and presenting, keeping contact with audience, etc.
Participants were highly satisfied with the lectures. This course continues the successful practice of giving soft skill lectures and positively influences young scientists’ presentations on international conferences.
